New York Joins Six-State Alliance To Work Toward Reopening Economy

Gov. Andrew Cuomo today held a joint (virtual) press conference with his counterparts in five other Eastern states - New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Delaware - to announce a joint effort to develop strategies to re-open the economy that has been all-but shuttered by the coronavirus pandemic.

"Let’s be smart and let’s be cooperative and let’s learn from one another," Cuomo said.

Each state has designated a public health and economic development official, as well as each governor's chief of staff, to serve as the point team on a multi-state council that will work together to try to figure out how their respective residents can safely and collectively re-enter public life.

The effort is being done in recognition of how closely interconnected these six states are - with residents regularly crossing borders to work and recreate.
