NYS Offers Childcare Scholarships For Essential Workers

A reminder: The Cuomo administration is providing child care scholarships to eligible essential workers, including first responders, health care providers, pharmaceutical staff, law enforcement, firefighters, food delivery workers, grocery store employees and others on the frontlines of the battle against COVID-19.

The state Office of Children and Family Services is administering this program.

Costs will be covered using $30 million worth of federal CARES Act funding for those whose income is less than 300 percent of the federal poverty level – $78,600 for a family of four – and will be paid up to market rate for each region statewide.

The money can be used to cover existing child care arrangements, and if you need assistance finding care, you can contact your local child care resource and referral agency (CCRR).

An application for the program can be found here.

Shoutout to Assemblyman John McDonald for reminding us of this effort in his daily COVID-19 email update.
