RI Rescinds Controversial Order Targeting NYers (Updated)

In the face of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's threat of legal action, the governor of Rhode Island, Gina Raimondo, has repealed a controversial order that specifically targeting New Yorkers seeking refuge from the coronavirus in her state.


The order has been revised to say that "any person coming to Rhode Island from another state for a non-work-related purpose must immediately self-quarantine for 14 days." This doesn't apply to public health, public safety or health care workers.

UPDATE: Cuomo said during his Red Room briefing for reporters at the state Capitol today that he spoke last night with Raimondo and she was very "receptive" to his argument that her order was not only illegal but "unneighborly." He thanked her publicly for reconsidering her position.
